  1. Introduction

    DPD allows making shipments to most destination outside the EU, but certain conditions need to be met and certain specific values need to be given. You must consult our International Delivery page before shipping. It contains the official, destination-specific requirements you need to follow to avoid delays, additional costs, or rejected shipments. Make sure all required details are disclosed and restrictions are respected.

    Details that are universally mandatory for RoW shipments, regardless of destination, are listed in the sections below.

  2. Sender

    Field Format Description
    Name Alphanum. 1-35 char. If private person: first and family name. If business: company name.
    Street Alphanum. 1-35 char. Street name of the sender. House number can be included here too.
    House number Alphanum. 0-8 char. House number of the sender. Only mandatory if not mentioned in Street
    Zipcode Alphanum. 1-9 char. Zipcode of the sender
    City Alphanum. 1-35 char. City, town or village of the sender
    Country code Official ISO Alpha-2 code Country of the receiver. In DPD Shipping, this is a predetermined list.
    Telephone number Alphanum. 0-30 char. Phone number of the sender contact
    Email address Alphanum. 0-100 char. Email address of the sender contact
    EORI number Alphanum. 0-20 char. ORI number of the sender. Not mandatory if sender is a private person
    VAT number Alphanum. 0-20 char. VAT number of the sender. Not mandatory if sender is a private person

  3. Receiver

    Field Format Description
    Name Alphanum. 1-35 char. If private person: first and family name. If business: company name.
    Street Alphanum. 1-35 char. Street name of the receiver. House number can be included here too.
    House number Alphanum. 0-8 char. House number of the receiver. Only mandatory if not mentioned in Street
    Zipcode Alphanum. 1-9 char. Zipcode of the receiver
    City Alphanum. 1-35 char. City, town or village of the receiver
    State Alphanum. 1.-35 chars State of the receiver, only needed if receiver country is United States of America or Canada
    Country code Official ISO Alpha-2 code Country of the receiver. In DPD Shipping, this is a predetermined list.
    Telephone number Alphanum. 0-30 char. Phone number of the receiver contact
    Email address Alphanum. 0-100 char. Email address of the receiver contact
    EORI number Alphanum. 0-20 char. EORI number of the receiver. Only mandatory if applicable in receiver country and if receiver is a business
    VAT number Alphanum. 0-20 char. VAT number of the receiver. Not mandatory if receiver is a private person

  4. Importer

    Note that if the importer is the same as the receiver, this section becomes entirely optional. However, if the importer is not the same as the receiver, it’s mandatory.

    Street Alphanum. 1-35 char. Street name of the importer. House number can be included here too.
    House number Alphanum. 0-8 char. House number of the importer. Only mandatory if not mentioned in Street

    City Alphanum. 1-35 char. City, town or village of the importer
    State Alphanum. 1.-35 chars State of the importer, only needed if importer country is United States of America or Canada
    Country code Official ISO Alpha-2 code Country of the importer. In DPD Shipping, this is a predetermined list.
    Telephone number Alphanum. 0-30 char. Phone number of the importer contact
    Email address Alphanum. 0-100 char. Email address of the importer contact
    EORI number Alphanum. 0-20 char. EORI number of the importer. Only mandatory if applicable in importer country and if importer is a business
    VAT number Alphanum. 0-20 char. VAT number of the importer. Not mandatory if importer is a private person

  5. Shipment Type

    Field Format Description
    Shipment Type Checkbox/Fixed choice Needs to be either Goods or Documents. Beware: documents with a commercial value (books, newspapers, magazines, etc) are to be considered as Goods. A shipment containing both types must also be considered as a Goods type of shipment.

  6. Customs information

    It’s important to note that for each separate item, a set of these fields needs to be disclosed. For classification purposes, any item with its own HS code will be regarded as a separate item. So for example, if you send 5 phone cases, 10 chargers and 25 batteries, that’s three separate items, so three sets of these fields must be disclosed.

    Field Format Description
    Value Numeric, two decimals. 1-15 char. Total commercial value of the article type. For instance, if this line is for 10 smartphone covers of 25€ each, the value here is 250€.
    Origin Country Official ISO Alpha-2 code Country of manufacture or last significant modification. In DPD Shipping, this is a predetermined list.
    Description of goods Alphanum. 0-200 char. Commercial or normalized description of the article type.
    HS Code Numeric, 6-20 char. HS code (Harmonized System) of the article type. 8 digit minimum is advised.
    Quantity Numeric, 1-5 Quantity (number of items) of the article type. For instance, if this line is for 10 smartphone covers, the value here is 10.

  7. Invoice information

    Field Format Description
    Currency Official ISO 4217 code Currency used for the commercial transaction. In DPD Shipping, this is a fixed list
    Incoterm Checkbox/Fixed choice Incoterm used for the commercial transaction. In DPD Shipping, this is a predetermined list.
